Great session on 24 August 2019. Morning started with great Croissant, networking, muffin.
Rich Mironov kicked off the first session as the first person, he talked about the long journey Product Anonymous has come but more importantly these were main points he covered:
- Product folks thrive on personal networking
- Great ideas are stolen, adapted and more importantly nurtured
- One of the great points he touched on was the fact that sharing let us externalise challenges, learn about others’ problems and even come up with solution. Impostor Syndrome and its relationship to challenges and solutions were quickly discussed.
- Employment Velocity (number of jobs/year) as expected seems to be different in the US compared to Australia. Rich emphasised on the important of knowing people (personal network) in order to find jobs that aren’t advertised.
Next session by Anthony Ugoni director of AI & Analytics from Seek also has awesome beard!
This bit I’m doing, and the way I am doing it, is the best way to help this business.
Once of the greatest points he touched on was that product management folks work on probability. But sometimes it gets confused with prediction managers build products based on prediction and now it’s different to probability was a new fascinating concept. We build products based on prediction and prediction is 100% right in product managers’ eyes – but probability?
