This was a great session by Andrea Ho from Atlassian about Growth Product Management. She brilliantly presented some of the duties role entails as well as challenges:
Below is overview of growth product management:
- Growth product manager does not own a product but works on many products
- They work across products, Always experimenting. They have backlog of experiments
- The role is based on data-driven decision making i.e. short multi-varient experiments with strict success criteria
- The ultimate metric is revenue target - working backwards to get there
Below are some of the challenges presented by her:
- Constantly changing product: annoys product development team
- Being a data-driven decision role, you sometimes will be accused of not being customer-focused
