I’ve recently come across a post that best described development teams, their roles and responsibilities.
One of the words that has changes in the Scrum guide is development team. Also the use of the word team
and emphasis on accountability
!
⚽ Let’s look at an example from real world (Scrum is a real world too!) but let’s do football.
The goalkeeper goes forward to help the team, even though his role is to stay back in the goal.
Because the team’s goal (objective) is important.
When the goalkeeper is fired and we don’t have anyone, one of the players fills his vacancy (technically they sacrifice a player to substitute for the goalkeeper).
Because the team’s goal is important.
We either win as a team or lose as a team – we play as a team.
That’s what agile teams
are all about. There are responsibilities that we take as roles based on our expertise, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have anything to do with the team’s goal!
